SBR FOOD for GUM BASE production | ||||
SBR FOOD CH 1027 for chew gum base
SBR is widely used in chewing gum base and bubble gum base applications. It is most suitable for gum with a firmer chew, as well as for bubble gum where large bubble size and stability are highly desirable. It is also used in other food contact applications, such as food can sealant.
SBR -CH 1027
EINECS: 618-370-2 FEMA: N/A HS.CODE: N/A Molecular Formula: (C8-H8.C4-H6)x- Moleclar Weight: 30KGS/CARTON
SSBR-CH 1027 is a food grade SSBR. Which is produced by hexane solution, the solution copolymerization of butadiene and styrene. Using butyllithium as catalyst, the solvents and volatiles are removed by hot water, dewaterer and expander . It is an equivalent of SBR FOOD-CH 1027. Which used in bubble/chewing gum base and food contact.

Gum Base is a non-nutritive masticatory substance (US FDA, “Code of Federal Regulation”).
It is an inert and insoluble non-nutritive product used as a support for the edible and soluble
portion of the chewing gum (sugar, glucose, polyols and flavours). The general description
“Gum Base”, used on chewing gum products throughout the world, is recognised by The
Food Chemicals Codex and most national legislation.

1. What is gum base?
Gum base is what gives chewing gum its “chew.” It is made of a combination of food-grade polymers, waxes and softeners that give gum the texture desired by consumers and enable it to effectively deliver sweetness, flavor and various other benefits, including dental benefits.
2. What are polymers? A polymer is a string of molecules (monomers) that usually contain carbon and hydrogen. Polymers are found naturally in the human body, animals, plants, and minerals. For example, DNA is a polymer, as are the proteins and starches in the foods we eat. Man-made polymers can be identical in structure to those found in the natural environment, but in many cases, these polymers provide guaranteed consistency, quality and purity that are not always found in some natural materials. This quality is particularly important for food-grade polymers used as ingredients.
3. What are food-grade polymers?
Food-grade polymers have been rigorously tested and have been determined to be safe for use in food. In chewing gum, polymers are what provide gum with its basic elastic properties. All polymers used in gum are food-grade and are legally permitted for use by international/national regulatory agencies, including those in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Main ingredients of gum base
Gum base is the non-nutritive, non-digestible, water insoluble masticator delivery system used to carry sweeteners, flavors and any other desired substances in chewing gum and bubble gum. Its generally consists of ingredients are: Food grade rubber, ester gum, microcrystalline wax, emulsifiers, fillers, antioxidants
Appearance
Grayish white or light straw solid. It is delicate and smooth. It is pure and has no odor. The above materials are all food additives. Not dangerous goods.
GUM BASE can be classfied into CHEW GUM BASE and BUBBLE GUM BASE
GUM BASE Product Description:
Gum base is made of food-grade plasticizers, softeners, texturizers and emulsifiers among other ingredients, which impart their unique properties to chewing gum. It is an insoluble and non-nutritive, non-digestible, water-insoluble substance that enables a chewing gum to be chewed for hours without experiencing substantial changes.
Gum Base can be combined with acid or non-acid flavoring, sugar or sugar substitutes as well as vitamins or active ingredient in chewing gum, bubble gum and pharmaceutical products.
Storage: Use adequate ventilation. It may form highly toxic vapors of trifluoropropionaldehyde if heated in air above 300° F (149° C). Provide ventilation to control vapor exposure (inhalation guidelines have not been established)
Avoid skin contact.
Avoid breathing vapor, mist, dust, or fumes.
Keep container closed.
Do not take internally.
Use reasonable care and store away from oxidizing materials.
This material in its finely divided form presents an explosion hazard. Follow NFPA 654 (for chemical dusts) or 484 (for metal dusts) as appropriate for managing dust hazards to minimize secondary explosion potential.
