Management of Wheat Warehouse in Flour Mill


In wheat maize barley,millet,durrum etc production, the requirements for moistening time are relatively strict. If the moistening time is too short, the endosperm will not be completely soft, the endosperm structure will be uneven, and the rolling distance will not be easy to adjust during grinding. The grinding will not be thorough and the screening will be difficult. If the wheat moistening time is too long, the moisture on the surface of the wheat will evaporate, causing the moisture on the surface of the wheat to dry out and become easily broken, affecting the milling performance.


It generally takes 8 hours for the moisture on the surface of wheat to penetrate evenly into the grain, and it takes about 12 hours to complete the physical and chemical combination with the internal substances of the wheat, volume expansion and heat generation, and to exist in the structure of the wheat grain in a relatively stable state. hours, but it takes more time to achieve a balance of moisture in all wheat grains through conduction between grains. All these require strengthening the management of the wheat-moistening time in the wheat-moistening warehouse to ensure the production of flour with stable quality.

1. Control the soaking time well. Raw materials that have not reached the soaking time should not be released for use.


Because the moisture of the raw materials that leave the warehouse in advance is mainly concentrated in the cortex, the moisture in the skin is very high, it is difficult to flow, and it is easy to block the equipment; the moisture distribution in the raw materials is uneven, the moisture in the endosperm has not yet penetrated, and the main purpose of moisture regulation has not been achieved. 


2. The raw materials must be put into the warehouse in time to ensure the wheat moistening time.


The timely delivery of raw materials into the warehouse is the basic condition to ensure the time of malting. To ensure this, in actual operation, the flow rate into the wheat silo should be 1.2 times the flow rate into the grinding mill, so that there is enough wheat in the silo, and there will be no need for milling during production. According to the needs, the raw materials that have not reached the time of moistening are released.


During the production process, the amount of wheat stored in the wheat silo must be checked frequently. Each production shift must ensure that the total amount of wheat stored in the wheat silo meets the requirements within the specified time before the operation of the rough wheat cleaning process can be suspended. 


3. Strengthen the monitoring of material levels in the wheat silo


Material level devices should be installed at the upper, middle and lower positions in the wheat silo. This will not only facilitate the control of the amount of wheat stored in the silo, but also facilitate the timely opening and closing of the silo to release and stop the silage.


4. Frequently monitor the feeding process


During the discharge process of the wheat silo, in addition to paying attention to the flow state of the material in the silo discharge pipe, the surface of the material layer in the silo should also be frequently observed. If the center sinks and the surface wheat moves laterally, the conditions of the warehouse exit and warehouse walls should be checked promptly to prevent funnel flow.


5. Prevent raw materials in the warehouse from deteriorating


If the wheat moistening time is too long, the surface moisture of the wheat will decrease, making the moisture regulation effect worse. When the temperature is high and the amount of moisture is large, wheat should not be left in the moistening warehouse for a long time to prevent the raw materials from heating up and deteriorating. If the subsequent equipment fails and it is difficult to handle the wet wheat in time, the method of dumping the warehouse can be used to cool down and dehumidify.


The empty wheat silo should be maintained regularly, the accumulated material on the walls, corners and bottom of the silo should be removed, and the exit of the silo should be inspected and cleaned.
